This Snake Sits on Fortune — Wishing You a Prosperous Year of the Snake!
As the Year of the Snake, I made a little sculpture to mark the occasion: a coiled snake perched calmly on a gold ingot, lifting its head high with a cheeky charm. It’s a playful symbol of wisdom, transformation, and—of course—abundance.
Snakes often get misunderstood, but in many cultures they’re revered as powerful protectors of treasure and keepers of hidden knowledge. This little one, however, is more of a peaceful guardian of good fortune. Its round, simplified form reflects a childlike innocence and lightheartedness—just the kind of vibe I want to carry into the new year.
I used air-dry clay for this piece, shaping it by hand with no tools except my fingers and a lot of patience. The base is a stylized gold ingot (元宝), grounding the snake in wealth and symbolism. It’s not perfect—but maybe that’s what makes it feel so real to me. Like a quiet wish whispered into clay.
To everyone who stumbles across this page:
✨ I wish you wisdom in your choices, warmth in your heart, and a year full of quiet little miracles.
May the snake bring you grace, resilience, and a golden kind of peace. ✨
Happy Year of the Snake!
With muddy hands and a hopeful heart,
YunCraft
